Choir History  

The Portree Gaelic Choir was formed early in the 1920s and has been competing at the Royal National Mòd for over 90 years less a few breaks for war years etc.

 

The Choir currently competes in the Margrat Duncan Memorial Trophy and the Greenock Gaelic Choir Cup (" Puirt a Beul").

 

 

The choir won the Lorne Shield 13 times between 1930 and 1979 .

 

Gaelic is still the first language for many people on Skye, and the choir along with Straths Gaelic Choir based on the south end of the island represents the island nationally at the Royal National Mòd and have won praise for their performances over the years.
